Return & Core Return Policy

Last updated July 20, 2026

Used automotive parts have special return requirements. Read this policy before ordering and before installing any part. Return eligibility for your specific order — including any final-sale status — is stated before checkout and in your order confirmation.

1. Return authorization is required

  • Contact support@automotor.ai or (888) 588-2164 within the return request window stated on your order (or, if none is stated, within 30 days of delivery) to request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number.
  • Do not ship anything back without an RMA. Ship returns only to the address on the RMA — the registered business address is not a returns address, and unauthorized shipments there cannot be processed.
  • Returned parts are inspected on receipt before any refund is approved.

2. Condition requirements

  • Parts must be returned in original, uninstalled (unless defective in service under warranty), un-disassembled condition.
  • Heat tabs, paint marks, seals, and identification tags must be intact — removal or alteration voids return eligibility.
  • Customer-caused damage and damage from improper installation are not returnable.
  • For engines and other assemblies, required fluids, filters, seals, gaskets, and manufacturer-specified installation and maintenance steps must have been performed and documented where the return arises from an operational claim.

3. Who pays what

  • Incorrectly ordered parts (wrong part for your vehicle due to information you provided): return freight is your responsibility; original outbound freight is non-refundable; a restocking fee may apply where disclosed on your order.
  • Incorrect part shipped (our or the supplier's error): we arrange and pay return freight and ship the correct part or refund in full, including outbound freight.
  • Defective parts: handled under the Parts Warranty Policy for your order — remedy is replacement or refund as stated there.
  • Damaged in transit: note visible damage on the delivery receipt at delivery and report concealed damage promptly (see Shipping Policy); we will pursue the carrier claim and remedy the order.
  • Refused shipments without an approved reason are treated as incorrectly ordered returns.

4. Category rules

  • Engines: returnable with RMA, subject to the condition requirements above; restocking and freight deductions may apply where disclosed.
  • Transmissions: same as engines.
  • Electrical and electronic parts (ECUs, modules, alternators, starters): due to industry fraud risk, these are FINAL SALE once installed or once security seals are broken; uninstalled units in original condition may be returned with RMA.
  • Body parts: returnable with RMA if uninstalled, unpainted, and unmodified.
  • Mechanical parts: returnable with RMA in original condition.
  • Commercial-truck parts: returnable with RMA unless marked special-order/final sale on the quote.
  • Marine parts: returnable with RMA unless marked special-order/final sale on the quote.
  • Special-order parts: FINAL SALE where stated on the quote and at checkout before you pay.

Any final-sale status is disclosed before checkout. We do not mark a category final-sale after purchase.

5. Core charges and core returns

  • Some parts carry a refundable core charge, shown separately on your quote and at checkout.
  • Core-return eligibility: return your original part (the core) of the same type, assembled, and not cracked, disassembled, or fire/water damaged.
  • Deadline: cores must be received within the window stated on your order [INSERT CORE RETURN WINDOW, e.g. 30 days from delivery].
  • Core freight: responsibility as stated on your order; where not stated, the customer ships the core using the provided label or their own carrier.
  • Core credit: issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days after the core passes inspection.
